FAQs

Yes, the VoiceMap app is free to download to your mobile device.

Search for VoiceMap Audio Tour on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

Download the app.  It is free, but Apple may ask you for your password to download it to your device.

Open the VoiceMap app and Sign Up for a new account.

Sign into your VoiceMap account.

From our Tour Page, select the tour that you are interested in and click on the Buy Now button.  This will take you into the VoiceMap Tour page.

At the bottom of the page, there will be a red box with the price and a download symbol.  Click the button and buy the tour using your Apple account.

You will then download the tour on your phone.

You will see the tour download and it will be ready to go on your phone.

Although you can, it is strongly suggested that you download your tour using a strong internet Wi-Fi connection prior to starting out.

Since many of the areas that are covered by the tours are coastal, cellular service is not always reliable.

When you download a tour using the VoiceMap app, the geodata, map, audio, image and other files are stored on your device. This means you can access your tours offline, without paying for mobile data or international roaming.

We recommend not turning on Airplane mode, because this can interfere with the GPS triggering.

You can also listen to the tour at home in the app by tapping the Virtual playback button. This disables GPS and plays the tracks one after the other, like a podcast.

If you stopped the tour along the way for a break or to visit an attraction, you can use the Resume button to pick up where you left off.

When you select Resume you’ll be shown a list of the three closest locations to where you are. Click on the location you want to start from, and the tour will resume from there.

If you end your tour and exit the app, access to your location is suspended.

VoiceMap only accesses your location while you are using the app.  It does this to play audio automatically when you are doing a tour or to suggest nearby tours while you are browsing the app.

If you end your tour and exit the app, access to your location is suspended.

Spring through Fall are the best times to take one of our tours.

During these seasons, the weather is generally pleasant. The island experiences milder temperatures, allowing visitors to comfortably explore outdoor attractions and landscapes without the challenges of winter weather.

Additionally, spring, summer, and fall showcase the natural beauty of PEI, offering a more vibrant and picturesque environment for a memorable audio tour experience.

Many local businesses close down for the winter season and snow may block some roads along the route.

We love to get customer feedback.

At the end of the tour, you have the opportunity to rate the tour.  We appreciate each and every rating that we receive.

You can also check out our Facebook page, Tour My Town Audio Tours and leave a comment or post any pictures that you took along the way.

When downloading your tour, the download should only take a few minutes to complete.

If it takes longer or is stuck, please cancel the download. Then, go to Account or Library (depending on which version of the app you’re using) and go to the top right hand corner of your screen to select Purchased or Library and restart the download from there.

When the download completes, you’ll see a screen with a photo of the starting point and directions to it. The red start button will activate when you are at the starting point.

If you’ve purchased a tour from somewhere that isn’t VoiceMap (TripAdvisor, Get Your Guide or Viator) you should have received a voucher or tour code that allows you to redeem the tour and then download it in the VoiceMap app.

This code is normally six to eight characters long and can include both letters and numbers.

You can redeem vouchers or tour codes by following these steps:

On the VoiceMap homepage, click on the Tour Codes button at the bottom of the screen, then select the red Enter Codes button.

Enter the code you received into the text box then select Submit. Codes are not case-sensitive.

The tour will be added to your VoiceMap library.

Select Listen to Tour when you’re ready.
